Sun Microsystems, a major provider of hardware and software during the Internet boom, crafted a vision early in the Internet revolution, stating "the network is the computer." Today, their vision is a reality. While networking has always provided interconnectivity of systems, it is now THE most important, relied-upon component of our technology infrastructure -- anytime, anywhere access that most of us can not live without .. or so we think.
Pervasive (ubiquitous) computing is here -- driven in large part by the network (think fiber-to-the-home and 3G), the availability of low cost compute resources provided by cloud computing, and the current generation of mobile devices (thank you, Apple). Whatever you can imagine can be made a reality -- within reason, of course. With the technology foundation evolving rapidly, the opportunities in software application development are seemingly endless -- and quite honestly, truly exciting (even the non-geeks can get excited).
We founded Proactive Apps to create the next generation of software that fully leverages the evolving technology landscape -- cloud computing and mobile devices. And honestly, we want to have fun in the process.
".. applications that are pieced together .. applications are relatively small, the data is in the cloud, the applications can run on any device (PC or mobile phone), that the applications are very fast, and they are very customizable.. the applications are distributed .. virally, literally by social networks, by email .."

Design -- a word, a topic, a can of worms. Design is an amazing thing -- equally subjective AND objective. Design IS the product or service. Design IS the total customer experience -- web site, email exchanges, support calls, products and services -- every touch point a customer might have with a company.
Design is challenging. But we are up to it. The overarching design goal for PROACTIVE APPS is to deliver on the promise of total customer experience. We want to have a simple, yet detailed web site. We want to have powerful, yet easy-to-use applications. We want to tackle complex technology, yet deliver a seemingly simple solution (one of our creeds is "simplicity over complexity").
And most importantly, we want customers to be incredibly happy - and to be our partners in the evolution of the total customer experience.
Here are a few of our favorite quotes from "Do you matter? How great design will make people love your company"
"You don't sacrifice the experience for growth; you drive growth from the quality of the experience."
"You start with an idea, you see something working, you develop it, and you run with it. You hit snags, you iron them out."
"Become brilliant at using design to provide an amazing customer experience."
"Don't play the game, change the game. Look to design to uncover new territory."
What drives us? While not all encompassing, here are a few of our guiding principles.
- Design driven development.
- Just read our design page to see how we feel. Hint - we REALLY believe in it.
- Focus.
- Maintain focus and don't lose sight of it. Lack of focus can cause many problems. Lesson learned the hard way..
- Family first.
- Is there anything more important than family? We don't think so.
- Awareness and presence in everything you do.
- Actually being in the moment and awakening to the "now" defines our reality and is an important key to having gratitude.
- Sing and dance every day.
- Ya know ya wanna! So, go ahead, sing a song and dance like nobody's watching. There has to be at least one song that makes some part of your body move. And yes, you sound great.
- Look to the good.
- A sweet mother told us that and it holds true so often in life. When you look for the silver lining in any challenge or obstacle in life you can heal, recover, learn and be grateful.
- Laugh a little.
- It is supposed to be good for you, after all. Really, check it out - Gelotology is the study of humor and laughter.
Get a little, give a little. We believe that every one of us can make a positive impact on the world -- whether focused on society-at-large, individuals, the environment, or even the lost or abandoned friends of Huckleberry and Mr. S (unofficial mascots, officially great pets).
A minimum of 5% of the revenue we earn will be donated to charitable organizations and philanthropic efforts.
There are so many amazing charities world-wide. Here are a few of our favorites.
